Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions we’re asked about the most…

Do I need to download Zoom onto my computer?

Yes. Click here to download Zoom. It’s free.

Can I use my iPad, tablet or phone?

iPads, tablets, and phones move around too much. We prefer you use your desktop computer or laptop.

Do I need an USB webcam and microphone?

If you have one, use it. It’ll really help. If you want to get one, we recommend these. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. Your computer’s microphone will work.

What happens after my Zoom Meeting?

Our team will edit your video, remove any mistakes, sneezes, etc., add a little music, special effects, personal pictures, documents, and home videos (if provided), and complimentary stock footage to your stories. When your legacy video is finished, we’ll send an email with a link to download your video.

How will I receive my legacy video?

We’ll email you a link to download your legacy video as many times as you’d like for up to 30 days. USB flash drives will also be mailed at this time (if applicable).

How long does it take to get my legacy video?

Between 4-10 business days. Shorter legacy videos are delivered the quickest. The clock starts the day of your Zoom Meeting.

Technical Stuff

Legacy videos are high definition (1920 x 1080). File format: MP4. MP4 videos can be played on both Windows and Apple computers.

Dr. Ken Canfield, founder of grandkidsmatter.org

The ability to record family legacy videos from anywhere in the world, using Zoom, just created a direct link between grandparents, their kids, and their grandkids. Family historians and hobby genealogists alike will love this service! I highly recommend tellmystories.org to every grandparent who wants to memorialize anything from their childhood on the farm and struggles as an adolescent to falling in love and their greatest life lessons.
